Dutch yard De Hoop has won a contract for a platform supply vessel (PSV) for Delta Logistics Limited of Trinidad.
The 70m-long vessel, with deep water capabilities, will operate in the offshore fields near Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean Sea. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2014.
The new design has been further widened compared to previous types from the yard to 15.8m to allow for a deadweight of over 2,500 tonnes. The hull form is optimised for fuel-efficient operations during both transit and DP modes. It will be fitted with a specially developed bulbous bow, designed to maintain a service speed of 12 knots, while saving almost 17 percent of power during transit. In close consultation with the yard, Delta chose a diesel-electric propulsion concept to achieve enhanced flexibility and high-economic performance. The generators are located on the main deck which allows much larger cargo volumes and easier access for maintenance. A high-standard accommodation includes low noise and vibration levels plus optimised air treatment. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of next year.
